Audience Screening: Trends and Feedback

When lookig at the answers from the questionairre we learnt a lot:
* When asked if the characters we introduced clearly most said yes, although they thought that Adam (post deliverer) and the mum could've been clearly. However we were not too worried by this comment as these are not central characters to our film.

* Almost everyone understood that the key themes were revenge, hatred, betrayl and friendship, and worte down at least one of these words.

* When asked what they like about the film, what worked best a trend developed that most people really liked the interesting shots, the change of perspective and the effects we used to give our film a unique style. We were really happy with this answer as these were the things that we felt made our film differnt, so it was great that people liked them.

*When asked what they thought didn't work as well, a few of them wrote down that they found the storyline a little confusing at first as it took them a while to get their head round it. They also said that the smoking bit could be shorter. Some people said they thought the lighting was a bit dark at times, however others wrote that they really liked the lighting as it added to the mood, feel and style of our film, which is what we were aiming for.

*I was very excited to find that the majority of people said that if we were to make the rest of the film they would want to watch it. However we did spot a trend here as well, it was that the few people who said they wouldn't were all boys. This confirms our thought that our film predominantly targets girls, they are our core audience, as they all said they would watch it. Boys of the same age are our secondary audience.

* Our average mark was 8/10, which we were very happy with. The scores ranged from 6/10 - 10/10!!!

*If we were going to do another screen we would want to get people of different ages to fill out the questionairre so that we can get a better view as to whether there are any trends in opinions relating to the age of the viewer, as pretty much everyone who filled out a questionairre was 16 or 17.

Home Screening

Today i showed my film to some of my friends and family out of school.
I wish i had given them the questionairre to fill out to get a more detailed and more ordered response - but I was very pleased with what they said anyway, here are the main points they made:

*Really like the style of it - the effects etc
*The smoking section could be cut down further
*My credit needs to be longer (although they would say that because they're my friends and family - hehe)
*Storeyline is original and interesting but a little bit confusing at first
* They would all watch the rest of the film, and were quite disappointed that we not going to make it, as they wanted to see what happens!

Audience Feedback

Although the feedback we got from our teachers and fellow media students was helpful, we needed some audience feedback of the finished product. Therefore we held a screening of our opening (and 'caught in the web' by Amelia, Holly and Laura)in the media block today at lunch. As the target audience for their opening and our was people around our own age we asked all our friends to come and publicised it via facebook. Loads of people turned up and filled out a short questionairre for use so the feedback was ordered and we could see trends clearly.

Editing

Since we've got back we've only had a week and a half to complete our opening sequences -ah! It's been so busy, we've been editing in most of our free periods and some days after school. I think we've made a lot of progress and i am so happy with the way it is looking now it's nearly done. We did a screening for our class, and they helped pick out some things to change. Such as bringing the volume levels down, cutting down the smoking bits and adding contrast to the beginning. I did agree with everything they said, as did Danni and Tom so we've been making those changes this week. Our deadline is tomorrow! But we have a lot of time tommorrow to work on it so it should all be ok :)

Music

We had some trouble finding music for our opening but now we have i think it sound great. The first part has quiet, calm classical music. But they end has loud, fast beat music with a hip-hop feel, i think it suits our film very well so im really happy.

Back to School

I'm back from my christmas break. Our deadline for having our sequence is less than a week away so me and my group are very busy at the moment.

Our sequence is now all in order and the music on the second half sound really good - but we are having a little bit of trouble finding music for the first half...
